1st XI League Round Up - June

There were four league matches in June, each with a different result.

The first game of the month was a visit to second placed Eastcote. Unfortunately this game fell foul of thunderstorms as did all games in the league that weekend. There was however enough time in the game for openers Dylan Rawal (105 off only 83 balls), and Rishabh Choubey (80 off 67 balls) to make their mark by putting on 194 in only 25 overs before the game was abandoned as a draw. Match week 6 saw the start of timed games. A really good all round bowling performance from Fahim Bahrami (2-32), Jermey Christian (3-70) and Pansilu Wijesinghe (2-23) saw Wycombe House limp to 195-8 off 55 overs. In reply a stroke filled 188 run second wicket partnership between Rishabh Choubey (106 not out) and Pansilu Wijesinghe (75 not out) saw us race to victory inside 28 overs. (SCORECARD)

An away game at Harrow St Mary's saw us record our first draw of the season in a completed game. Batting first all the batsman got starts but nobody passed fifty, ad we were indebted to a last wicket partnership of 55 in only 5 overs between Ekansh Mishra & Jermey Christian to push us to a healthy 277-9 declared in 50 overs. In reply the hosts didn't show much intent to go for the win, and our bowling didn't do enough to deserve victory either. The game meandered to a draw with HSM 173-6 at the close. (SCORECARD)

The final league game of the month produced our first defeat of the season. Having bowled out Barnes for 177 with Syan Bulathsinhala taking 6-65, chasing that kind of total at home may have seemed a formality. A succession of loose strokes, combined with excellent tight bowling and good fielding from the visitors saw us collapse to 131 all out inside 35 overs. A very disappointing way to finish the month. The team remains top of the league, but the last game will serve as a reminder that nothing can be taken for granted in league cricket.
